I wonder if this marriage system would ever make it in the game. I mean hell, you can do it in Flyff, Final Fantasy Online and few other MMORPG out there.

I posted that picture Zinger showed here(The exact same..) and you couldn't press the "No" button. It would simply move away from the mouse.

It doesn't matter where or how you propose as long as you mean it. And also usually before you propose you should know the person well enough to know the answer. So yes I'm sure she said yes.

On the topic of ingame marriages. Many MMOs have them and I think it would be a nice addition to guild wars. I'd love to marry my wife ingame ;O.

Oh come on.. If there is one strong tradition regarding asking someone to marry you, it's coming up with an over the top or crazy stunt way of doing it. There are tons of people who do similar things like asking in a big public gathering, in front of strangers. Putting it on billboards, or scoreboards at sporting events, etc, etc, etc.

It's not uncommon, and far more fun and memorable for both parties than just going over to their place and dropping to one knee and asking. Most women love when men do something more outlandish like that.

Breaking up is an entirely different animal. It's hardly analogous.

That differs entirely and I think it's more an American thing (not to flame, it's just less common here in Europe). There's plenty of women who don't want that.

But anyway, as I said before; it's his choice and he should do it the way he want to. I was just pointing out a flaw in the reply. Eye contact is what gives any conversation in my opinion more meaning, but I guess we just don't agree on that.

No, I would agree about eye contact.. But I don't think that any big stunt way of doing it necessarily precludes that.. I mean, the guy is going to to have to face her in the end when she gives the answer. It's not like someone is saying "please marry me, and by the way, mail me the answer, but if it's no, just leave it alone and don't answer" or something cowardly where they are completely distancing themselves on every level from the question and answer and everything to do with it. that would be truly needing to "grow some balls".

I'm sure this person ended up having a very wonderful face to face with the person he asked, after this stunt.

I wasn't aware it was less common in Europe, and I could see why some people, male or female would prefer a personal proposal. But I don't see anything cowardly or sad in the way he did it. I think some people (not you) are just way too cynical and judgemental.

I played Ragnarok Online for a while, and they had marriages in them, which was kinda cool.

Then the implemented children, which was also pretty cool, they were just 'baby' classes.

Don't think I'd like to see that in Guild Wars though.

Wow......Just Wow. If i proposed to my girlfriend of 3 years over an Internet game she would call me a F****ing loser and bin my malnourished, MMORPG playing a**. This is very sweet and all, However it reminds me of how far gone someone with my seedy , dirty secret can go.
